Coraline Inspired Decorations

DIY
Picture
Haven't decorated for Halloween yet? No problem, these Tim Burton inspired spider webs took less then a half hour each to create!

What you need:
1. Craft Cable Cord (I bought the 100 yard roll, was able to build both webs with cord to spare.
2. Scissors
3. Spiders  (optional)
Start by finding a location. You will need a spot where you can tie a number of the cords, this will create the center of the web. I chose our front porch because I could use our mail box as the start point and my front yard because a post was already in place from the previous owner of the house.

Just like you would draw a spider web on paper, start by tying the longer lines of the web.  (Images shown above)
Once those are set, cut strips for the webbing in between.  I started at the top and with the same piece of cord I made my way down the web, tying knots at each intersection.  (Left image above) There is no wrong way to build these webs, you can have as large or as little spacing as you want or have time for!
From there I added additional decorations that I found at the dollar store. Spiders, tomb stones, fake flowers and pumpkins that I spray painted black. Finished product shown above! Enjoy and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Tim Burton Halloween
Wreath

DIY
Picture
Picture
I have been excited to start decorating our new house for the Holidays, and what better Holiday to start with then Halloween!  I am obsessed with themes, so this year I decided I would go with a Tim Burton theme.

First piece of decoration, a Tim Burton inspired Snake Wreath!
Supplies

What you will need:

1. Styrofoam wreath (diameter of mine is 14")
2. Black Ribbon
3. Garland
4. Leaves
5. Glue Gun
6. String (to hang the wreath on the door)
7. Black Flowers (Option, I didn't end up using mine)
8. Black Spray Paint
and 9. Snakes!

Tip!!
When it comes to all my DIY crafts before I go to a craft store I always swing by the $1 store. You never know what your going to find and you can end up saving a lot of money. On my $1 store trip I ended up finding the snakes for my wreath.

Picture
1. Base
When it comes to the base of the wreath there really is no wrong wreath option. You can buy one already made or make your own. Because I couldn't find a good twig or leaf wreath option, I decided to make my own.

To make sure none of the white would show through, I started by covering the styrofoam with black ribbon. Using the hot glue to secure the ribbon at the start and end. (Depending on the size of your circle you will most likely need 2 spools of ribbon).

2. Leaves
Once the base is covered, decide what will be the top of the wreath and tie a string. This is for the wreath to hang on the door. From there take your garland and wrap the wreath just like the ribbon. Because the garland isn't as long make sure you space out the garland to reach around the whole wreath. (You can buy more then one garland, but I was trying to save money). Because I only used one garland you can see on the first image below that there are gaps and you can see the ribbon.

To cover those gaps I took the other set of leaves that I bought ($1 compared to $10) and cut them off the stem. I then hot glued them to fill the gaps. (center image)

Once you are happy with the how the wreath looks spray paint the whole thing black. (right image)
3. Snakes
Last, but certainly not least add the snakes!! You can wrap the snakes around the wreath or glue them on top. There is no right or wrong when it comes to placing the snakes. Add as little or as much as you want! I kept my snakes black and white but you can pick colored snakes for more contrast. (Once on the snakes are placed you may need to touch up some of the leaves with the black spray paint).

ENJOY!!
